Movistar Argentina Upgrades Comptel Convergent Mediation for Enhanced Performance and Greater Scalability
Flexible, high availability Comptel Dynamic OSS solution will help the communications service provider manage more than 400 million transactions daily

HELSINKI, Finland— 11 January 2011—
Comptel Corporation (NASDAQ OMX Helsinki: CTL1V), the leading vendor of dynamic Operations Support System (OSS) software, today announced that Movistar Argentina, the Telefónica Group’s mobile communications service provider (CSP) in Argentina, has upgraded Comptel Convergent Mediation in order to take advantage of the platform’s enhanced performance, scalability and ease of use.

The project, which was carried out in collaboration with Comptel partner IBM Argentina, will provide a significant increase in capacity, extended support and flexibility. This will help the operator not only collect and transform more than 400 million network transactions daily into billable records, but also efficiently and effectively deliver and charge for advanced mobile services.

Key Facts:

  • Movistar Argentina, a subsidiary of Telefónica Móviles Argentina, is the leading mobile CSP in Argentina, with more than 16.5 million mobile subscribers and more than one million mobile broadband subscribers. Movistar Argentina’s 3.5G network covers the Buenos Aires metropolitan area and more than 350 locations throughout Argentina. The company has been a Comptel customer since 2002.
  • IBM Power Systems with PowerHA™ and PowerVM™ provide Movistar Argentina with a dynamic infrastructure that offers a lower total cost of ownership and a greener footprint than competitor alternatives.
  • Comptel Convergent Mediation is a highly scalable, patented platform that collects usage transactions from a wide range of network equipment and element types, and transforms them for billing and other downstream processing.
