The Colombian government has introduced new measures to impose a tax on pay-TV operators which will be operational from 1 January 2011.
From that date, cable TV, DTH and the rest of Colombian pay-TV operators will have to pay 7% of their income to the Television National Commission (CNTV) whilst at the same time the existing 10% tax that pay-TV companies are levied is maintained.
The new law also contemplates new conditions set by the CNTV such as presenting a technical extension plan, an investment plan, and not to have any debts with the CNTV and paying the value of any coverage extension demanded.
