Unified communications will be a key focus for the recently merged Enterprise unit of French telecoms equipment supplier Alcatel-Lucent(NYSE: ALU) and call center specialist Genesys in Latin America, Sergio Valencia, Alcatel-Lucent’s Enterprise director for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, told BNamericas.
“In 2011, a key focus will be unified communications. There are many opportunities there. Mexico is one of the leaders in IP telephony penetration. We want to take advantage of that to deploy our managed services, hosted services and cloud services,” Valencia said, adding that the company will also focus on expanding its partner network.
In March, Alcatel-Lucent announced it was merging its Genesys and Enterprise portfolios, and the Latin American operations were the first worldwide to complete that merger.
