Asia Pacific Broadband Telecom (APBT) will launch CDMA2000 EV-DO (evolution-data optimized) Rev.B 3.5G mobile Internet-access services in April 2011, according to the company.
In line with the launch, APBT said it plans to procure 1.38 million terminal devices, of which 20-30% will be smartphones and tablet PCs in 2011, with the volume increasing by 15% from 2010. Tablet PCs will be mainly of Android models, APBT indicated.
As Apple will launch a CDMA version of iPhone 4 in early 2011 and China Telecom is expected to be a telecom sales agent for the China market, APBT will keep an eye on China Telecom’s sales performance and then decide whether to compete for a sales right in the Taiwan market, APBT noted.
APBT recorded revenues of NT$20.934 billion (US$679 million), pre-tax profit of NT$3.353 billion and earnings per share (EPS) of NT$1.021 for January-November 2010.
