Lima, Dec. 15 (ANDINA).
Mobile telephony penetration in Peru will reach 97 percent of Peru’s population by end-2010, telecompaper.com reported Wednesday.
This represents a 17 percentage points increase from a penetration of 80 percent in 2009, said Elizabeth Galdo, director of regulatory affairs and corporate responsibility at Movistar Peru.
Mobile penetration in Peru currently exceeds 100 percent, Galdo added.
“Peruvian consumers are changing habits. Up to now, they wanted a handset that enabled intensive voice communication; now they opt for a handset with greater data transfer capacity together with voice capabilities”.
