Walgreens has a new mobile app that lets users request medicine refills. The app, which was released for Android, BlackBerry and iOS, is an obvious step for a large pharmacy chain like Walgreen Co.
The vertical of health care is wide open and one that will understandably take longer to fully embrace mobile for a variety of reasons. But apps like this that can give users new and more streamlined capabilities are becoming increasingly popular.
To request a refills, users can scan the barcode on their most recent bottle of medicine or manually enter the prescription number. The app also lets users search for the nearest pharmacy, order photo prints, peruse the weekly ads, find a clinic and more.
