SINGAPORE: Smart phones are just about to get smarter with more security functions in place to prevent theft.
This after 1823 mobile phones were reported stolen in the first half of this year, said the Police.
More companies are coming up with tracking programmes in mobile phones.
One is Apple’s “Find my iPhone” application, launched this year – and which helped the Singapore Police nab the thief in a recent case.
Local company, tenCube, also has a similar application, WaveSecure, which can track the location of the phone, as well as back up and restore data on the phone.
It said the application has been downloaded more than one million times worldwide, since it was launched in 2004.
