Alliances: Air2Web partners with SAS; Kaboom Latam teams with Glu; and more

Air2Web announced a worldwide partnership agreement with SAS, which provides business analytics software and services. Together the companies plan to integrate Air2Web’s AirCARE platform with SAS’ capabilities to offer a solution that allows enterprises to use information about their customers to create personalized interactions through tailored mobile campaigns and customer service applications.
CounterPath Corp., which provides desktop and mobile Voice over Internet Protocol software solutions, and NEC Unified Solutions introduced NEC’s Smart Mobile Client. The product extends the functionality of NEC communication servers to smartphones.
Telus selected Art Technology Group Inc.’s ATG Commerce platform to power its online business-to-business operations. ATG Commerce is a set of e-commerce applications that automate the complete lifecycle of online sales, marketing and service. The product features contract-based product catalogs, contract-based pricing, purchase lists, approvals workflow, order restrictions, requisitions and cost center-based shipping.
Kaboom Latam said it signed distribution deals with Glu Mobile, THQ Wireless, I-Play and Sonic Boom covering Latin America. Kaboom provides mobile content to carriers in 15 countries.
Nuance Communications and K-NFB Reading Technology Inc. said the Nuance Vocalizer text-to-speech technology will be available as part of the Blio eReader Software when it launches next month. The Blio reader preserves the image-rich format of books and magazines, including layout, typesetting, images, color and graphics, while also supporting media formats like video, graphics and Web links. The text-to-speech technology will be available as a downloadable accessory on Blio eBook Stores. Nuance also announced a multi-year deal to continue delivering its Voicemail to Text service to SaskTel’s wireless and wireline subscribers. The carrier began offering the service to its customers in 2007.
Russian mobile phone and consumer electronics retailer Euroset signed an agreement with Brightstar that calls for Brightstar to assist Euroset on mobile device sourcing, mobile device strategy and category management. The deal also calls for Brightstar to provide supply chain and retail operations services.
Bouygues Telecom deployed Ciena Corp.’s CN 4200 FlexSelect Advanced Services Platform throughout France to expand its broadband DSL aggregation and transport network as well as to increase capacity to support higher traffic volumes.
Intel Corp., Nokia and the University of Oulu announced a joint laboratory that will conduct research for new mobile user experiences, including creating interfaces that are similar to real-world interactions such as 3D. The companies said about 24 R&D professionals will work for the lab.
