Wireless operators finished out 2009 on a mixed note as some operators posted robust customer growth reminiscent of years past, while others appear still mired in their modern troubles. The nation’s nine largest, publicly traded carriers managed to add more than 5.7 million new customers during the final three months of 2009 pushing their combined customer bases to more than 277 million domestic subscribers.
