AT&T and Centennial Communications Announce Justice Department Clearance for Acquisition of Centennial by AT&T

AT&T and Centennial Communications Corp. announced that the Department of Justice has cleared AT&T?s proposed acquisition of Centennial. The Department has entered into a consent decree with AT&T and Centennial that allows the acquisition to proceed, while requiring that AT&T divest Centennial?s operations in eight service areas in Louisiana and Mississippi. The eight service areas are Alexandria, La., Lafayette, La., LA-3 (DeSoto), LA-5 (Beauregard), LA-6 (Iberville), LA-7 (West Feliciana), MS-8 (Claiborne) and MS-9 (Copiah).

IFC Leads $250 Million Investment in Shared Tower Communications Infrastructure in Nigeria

IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is investing $100 million in Helios Towers Nigeria Ltd as part of a $250 million capital injection that will help the company increase its network to 2,000 sites nationwide and afford Nigerian people the many benefits of improved communications.
IFC disbursed an initial $50 million in mezzanine financing on August 21, and on September 30, signed an agreement to lend an additional $50 million in senior debt. IFC also is arranging $150 million in senior debt from a number of commercial and development finance institutions.
HTN builds and maintains a network of telecommunications towers and leases space on these towers to wireless telecommunications services providers. The increased coverage will help wireless operators roll out their services more economically and enable the extension of affordable mobile services to semi-urban and rural areas.

Peraso Technologies, Inc. Completes $10M Financing Round

Peraso Technologies, Inc. a fables semiconductor company focused on the development of multi-gigabit mmWave transceivers, announced that it has secured $10 million (CDN) in Series A funding. The investment group is comprised of leading Canadian VC’s, including Celtic House Venture Partners, iNovia Capital and VentureLink Funds. The financing will be used to develop and commercialize mmWave integrated circuits (ICs).

ReVerb Networks Series A at $9 Million

ReVerb Networks Inc. announced today that the company has raised $9 million in its Series A financing. Friedli Corporate Finance, an early-stage technology investor based in Zurich Switzerland, led the series A. The funding will enable the company launch its VirtualRAN family of products, the PerformaNet suite of software solutions and the rV300 series of integrated radio antenna systems. ReVerb`s two layered solution benefits wireless network operators by reducing both operating and capital expenses while delivering improved system performance and control. The software platform and hardware series are designed to work independently, but when used together create a revolutionary solution to address ever increasing demands for bandwidth and the resulting operational challenges to the radio access network (RAN).

CTIA Fund Fest
A panel of judges awarded Chyngle, a mobile applications provider, with the Champion award at CTIA Fund Fest. Telcare, which connects chronically ill patients to their doctors via mobile technology, received the People’s Choice Award. CTIA Fund Fest was held October 9, 2009 at International CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment 2009. Produced in partnership with MobiTechFest, CTIA Fund Fest invited budding entrepreneurs and start-ups to submit executive summaries and investor pitches for innovative mobile products and services that spanned several entry categories. A review committee comprised of partners from top venture capitalist firms evaluated the applications and selected the five finalists who presented on stage.
