RCR Rebounds

Yes, it is good to be back. Thanks for asking.
OK so maybe technically you didn’t ask, but I’ll tell you just the same; it is good to be back. We’ve missed you.
Even though the wireless industry has been one of America’s great success stories since its inception, some changes are not always good for individual employees. Companies merge and people get laid off. Technology marches ahead and yesterday’s great idea gets left behind. A differentiator gets spread throughout the industry – because it is great – and suddenly a unique feature becomes commonplace. A downturn in the economy forces a company to close its doors. I’ve covered it time and time again. And when RCR Wireless News closed its doors March 3, my colleagues and I experienced that shock first-hand. Some really good people were suddenly without jobs.
Luckily, I also know this is an industry of rebounds.” WAP is crap” actually becomes a really good content delivery system. Palm can produce the Pre, even though some analysts had written off the company years ago. AT&T gets hit hard by local number portability, so much so that it gets acquired by Cingular, and then eventually becomes AT&T again. And so it is with RCR Wireless News.
Under the ownership of Arden Media, RCR is being resurrected with Dan Meyer and me leading the editorial direction. We’re excited to keep the best of RCR – thought leadership and breaking news, Top 10 lists, Analyst Angle, and yes, Worst of the Week – and explore new ways to communicate with you as we take advantage of the partnership with Telecomcareers.com, another Arden Media company and the No. 1 wireless and IT job board.
We will continue to connect our audience, you, on the web, in print when it’s possible to do, and at the local level. We’ve created something called the RCR Ecosystem to help individuals and companies that are new to wireless connect the dots in how the ecosystem works together. We’re going to look at global trends to find out what that means to you on a local level. And we’re going to keep the mix of hard-hitting news and analysis, balanced with an eye to the awesome and the absurd.
You, our audience, are our customers, and we take that seriously. If you like what we’re doing, please sign up for our daily alerts at https://home.www.rcrwireless.com/clickshare/addAccountFree.do. We’ll also be rolling out some new features over the next few months and as always want your feedback on everything — from news we’re covering (or news we’re missing) to the new look and feel of the newsletter and what you’d like to see us cover more in-depth and what you’d like us to ignore. You can follow us on twitter @rcrwirelessnews, you can be our fan on Facebook (just search for “rcrwireless”) and you can join our LinkedIn group, RCR Wireless News.
