@MWC: Cisco extends WebEX software to more smartphones

Cisco Systems said it is extending its WebEx client software to a host of smartphones.
The online conferencing service is now available on BlackBerry models the Bold, Storm and Curve 8900, the company said, as well as the Samsung Blackjack II and several Nokia E series and N series handsets. Users can participate in audio and Web conferencing via 3G or Wi-Fi, and the company added a feature that allows users to invite others to conferences via text message.
“Now you can send an SMS invitation,” said Grace Kim, senior product marketing manager for Cisco WebEx, “and the user can reply by pressing 1, then receive a call and automatically join the conference.”
Cisco launched a version of WebEx for users with Apple’s iPhone 3G in January, and the free offering has seen more than 70,000 down loads, Kim said.
