Venture capital financing wrap-up: Emotive Communications, JAB Wireless, PureWave and more

The following list includes venture capital and other investments into wireless companies announced during the past week. The value of the investment is included when available.
Emotive Communications: The Mayfield Fund led a $6.25 million second round of funding into Los Angeles-based Emotive Communications. Follow-on investments were provided by D.E. Shaw Ventures and Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments. At the same time, the company announced its acquisition of mobile games company Sennari Entertainment.
JAB Wireless: ABRY Partners and company management invested $14 million into JAB Wireless Inc., and Hercules Technology Growth Capital Inc. invested $17.5 million in debt financing into the company. JAB Wireless is parent company to several wireless Internet Service Providers, including SkyBeam, Digis and AirCanopy. The company plans to use the funding to expand through mergers and acquisitions and organic growth.
PureWave: ATA Ventures and Leapfrog Ventures invested $12 million in a Series B funding round into PureWave Networks Inc., which provides 4G beamforming WiMAX wireless base stations. Existing investors Allegis Capital and Benhamou Global Ventures also participated in the round. The funding will allow the company to commercially launch its products in North America, the APAC region and other markets, as well as to expand operations.
SnapMyLife: North Bridge Venture Partners and Carmel Ventures led a $5 million round of funding into mobile photo-sharing company SnapMyLife. The investment will be used to further expand the company’s service with new features, stronger international presence and global partnerships. The company is headquartered in Needham, Mass.
