PMC-Sierra devices target WiMAX

PMC-Sierra Inc. added four new multiband devices to its WiZIRD family ofWiMAX RF IC solutions targeted at broadband wireless subscriber equipment.

The new devices allow WiMAX system designers to use a single radio design to provide customer premises equipment and network interface cards for all the major broadband wireless radio bands worldwide, said the company.

The PM8850 includes two transmit and two receive branches (2Tx/2Rx) with multiband support for 2.3-2.9 GHz, 3.3-3.8 GHz and 4.9-5.95 GHz. The PM8851includes one transmit and two receive branches (1Tx/2Rx), with multi-band support for 2.3-2.9 GHz, 3.3-3.8 GHz and 4.9-5.95 GHz.

The PM8870 includes 2Tx/2Rx with multi-band support for 2.3-2.9 GHz, 3.3-3.8 GHz and 450-928 MHz; and the PM8871, which includes 1Tx/2Rx with multi-band support for 2.3-2.9 GHz, 3.3-3.8 GHz and 450-928 MHz.
