T-Mobile USA’s 3G network hits Sin City

T-Mobile USA Inc. kept good on its 3G rollout promise; the carrier launched its 3G network in Las Vegas. Although it currently lags behind its tier-one competitors in the high-speed data arena, T-Mobile USA has plans to launch 3G in 20 more markets by the end of the year.
Neville Ray, SVP of engineering operations for T-Mobile, said the carrier has investment more than $37.5 million in infrastructure and spectrum to bring the faster UMTS/HSDPA network to Las Vegas.
“Customers in Las Vegas are already accustomed to reliable and robust service from T-Mobile, which gets even better with this additional network availability,” Ray said. “This investment in today’s 3G network also sets the foundation to help customers stay closer to their family and friends in new and exciting ways.”
The carrier’s first 3G network launch was New York City, earlier this year. The carrier also plans to soon offer its first HSDPA device and expand its HotSpot Wi-Fi network.
