The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
Cellular
–China: China Mobile Communications entered a frame agreement with Nokia Siemens Networks to design, build, maintain and optimize the radio and core network using its Flexi base station, mobile softswitching and OSS solutions in selected provinces and cities. The deal is valued at about $875 million.
–Philippines: Ceragon said it has been chosen by Digital Mobile Philippines to provide its FibeAir solutions to enable the carrier to upgrade its network to offer 3G data and multimedia services based on IP technology. The order is valued at $3.5 million.
–Taiwan: Nokia Siemens Networks said it signed a contract with Chunghwa Telecom to help the carrier increase its network capacity, expand coverage and improve transmission speeds. The deal is valued at about $115 million.
WiMAX
–United Sates: DragonWave Inc. said it has been chosen by Sprint to provide IP backhaul solutions for its XHOM WiMAX mobile broadband service.
