The mobile service provider category has become the fastest-growing category in terms of brand value growth – increasing by 35% from last year – in the 2008 BrandZ Top 100 Most Powerful Brands ranking conducted by Millward Brown. The growth of the mobile service provider category has been influenced by the advent of 3G technology and related video and data services as well as fierce competition as the market approaches saturation, said the firm. China Mobile ranked first among providers and fifth overall.
