Radio Disney is partnering with sister company mDisney on a mobile Web site and texting program to support the offering.
The new wireless site allows users with Web-enabled phones to hear Radio Disney broadcasts, find local stations, request tunes and participate in polls from their handsets. Disney fans can also send terms to the short code 347639 (DISNEY) to listen to the station, send dedications and access Radio Disney’s top 30 songs.
“The new Radio Disney Mobile Web site is the perfect example of how we can leverage extremely popular content on the mobile platform to create new and compelling entertainment for Disney fans,” said mDisney EVP Larry Shapiro. “This site is one of the first of what will be a long line-up of compelling mobile Web sites built around key Disney franchises and content offerings.”
The iconic corporation has continued to move aggressively in mobile despite last year’s flameout of its MVNO. Disney recently launched a wireless Web site for U.K. consumers, and the company has announced plans to deploy an MVNO in Japan this year.
