The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
WiMAX
–Caribbean: Alvarion said it signed a master supply agreement with Digicel Group that calls for the company to deploy a WiMAX network throughout the region.
Miscellaneous
–Australia: Convergys Corp. said Mobileworld Operating Pty Ltd., which offers mobile service under the Crazy John brand name, has chosen it to help it transition from reseller to MVNO. Covergys will provide its real-time rating and billing product.
–United States: The City of San Jose, Calif., chose Harris Stratex Networks Inc. to engineer, install and integrate an Emergency Communications (ECOMM) private microwave radio network. The contract calls for Harris Stratex Networks to also supply full maintenance support and services for the network for the first year of operation. The network supports law enforcement, fire protection and emergency medical operations for 31 agencies and 18 jurisdictions in Santa Clara County.
