Yahoo Inc. bulked up its mobile portfolio, unveiling a tool designed to allow users to manage content across the wireless Web.
OnePlace uses bookmarks to link to news feeds, Web sites, videos, e-mails and other Web-based offerings. The tool automatically updates content such as sports scores and stock prices, and assigns categories and tags in an effort to improve discovery hassles. The service also includes a mobile RSS reader for blog feeds and integrates e-mail, instant messaging and social networks.
“Yahoo onePlace is where users will be able to find what matters to them the most, no matter where their interests, passions and information come from,” said Marco Boerries, executive VP of Yahoo’s Connected Life business.
OnePlace will launch in the second quarter along with oneConnect, an open architecture mobile messaging aggregating service announced three weeks ago.
