TryPhone offers virtual cellphone tours

Mobile Complete launched an application that gives Web surfers the opportunity to try out various handsets before buying them. The interactive, consumer-focused Web program, called “TryPhone,” builds off the company’s DeviceAnywhere suite of products, which gives application developers and others a way to test cellphone applications across more than 1,000 devices.
The firm’s new TryPhone service only supports four handsets today, but company CEO Faraz Syed said the portfolio will grow each week. Research In Motion Ltd.’s Blackberry Pearl, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.’s Juke, LG Electronics Co. Ltd.’s Muziq and Apple Inc.’s iPhone are currently available for perusal.
“TryPhone’s goal is to empower consumers to make educated decisions when choosing phones right for them, as well as helping them to understand how to take advantage of all the cool features available on today’s devices,” Syed said.
The offering is a response to the growing number of cellphone shoppers conducting online research.
The program is available at www.tryphone.com, and Mobile Complete is working to find partners that also will embed the program on their own Web sites.
