The nation’s No. 2 carrier lowered the entry price for its wireless high-speed BroadbandAccess service, and is now offering the same price to both existing Verizon Wireless voice customers and new customers.
Previously, customers without a voice plan were charged $80 per month for access to the service-which according to Verizon Wireless’ terms of service includes 5 gigabytes of data transmission-while existing customers got a reduced rate of $60 per month. Now, the carrier treats all customers the same, and is even offering a one- or two-year contract option at the same rate.
The service supports PC access to Verizon Wireless’ CDMA EV-DO network.
“The network is much more pervasive than it used to be and obviously customers are using it,” Verizon Wireless spokeswoman Brenda Raney said. “This is us responding to a customer need.”
