Google Calendar goes wireless

Google Inc. expanded its mobile features, allowing users to access its Calendar offering from wireless phones.
The Internet behemoth said mobile users can visit www.calendar.google.com to view upcoming events including date, time and description, and can access both past and upcoming events. The service is free aside from carrier data charges.
“We realize that more people in the world have mobile phones than have computers, and people take their cellphones with them everywhere,” Google software engineer Devesh Parekh wrote in a post on the company’s Web site.
The new service is the latest evidence that Google is moving aggressively into the wireless space. The company offers a broad swath of mobile services, including Google Maps and a text messaging service, and is rumored to be considering a Google-branded phone service.
