Sprint Nextel Corp. launched a new service that extends private branch exchange functionality to mobile phones.
Sprint Wireless Integration offers features including a phone number that simultaneously rings a desk phone and mobile phone, a converged voicemail box, intra-company dialing from mobile phones, mobile call tracking and routing of outbound mobile calls through the enterprise PBX.
The service is billed as an add-on feature at $20 per month to existing Sprint Nextel CDMA wireless plans. The service is available to businesses that use Avaya Communication Manager enterprise telephony PBX. Sprint Nextel said it plans to expand the service to other PBX providers next year.
