SAN MATEO, Calif.-Digital Chocolate Inc. scored a high-profile franchise, inking a deal to produce a mobile game based on the hit HBO series “The Sopranos.”
The publisher said it will offer a Sopranos-branded game that will place gamers in the front office of the fictional Bada Bing! Nightclub. Players can upgrade the club, hire strippers and water down drinks to maximize profits as they avoid legal trouble and conflicts with fellow family members.
The move to offer a licensed, branded game is an unusual tack for Digital Chocolate, which has gained steady traction with community-themed offerings such as MLSN Sports Picks, Bubble Ducky, WordKing Poker and Party Night Diva.
“Working with Digital Chocolate enables HBO to continue to deliver popular show-branded games to a medium where our fans can easily access them-their cell phones,” said Patricia Wagstaff, vice president of HBO Interactive Entertainment. “It’s important that the HBO consumer (has) the best possible experience with any of its properties, no matter what medium.”
