Bridge Mobile Alliance to distribute ESPN content in Asian markets

SINGAPORE-Cellular subscribers in seven Asia-Pacific markets soon will be able to receive an international version of Mobile ESPN sports content.

The Bridge Mobile Alliance plans to distribute ESPN Star Sports content and service applications; the move is part of Bridge Mobile’s regional service strategy and the Mobile ESPN content is the first premium content suite that Bridge is offering. ESPN Star Sports is a Singapore-based, 50-50 joint venture between ESPN Inc. and Asian media company Star, and has 13 networks, including ESPN Asia, ESPN India, and ESPN Taiwan. Bridge Mobile secured licensing rights to the Mobile ESPN content through a Singapore subsidiary of NeuStar Inc.

Seven of Bridge Mobile Alliance’s member operators plan to offer the service: Airtel in India, CSL of Hong Kong, Globe Telecom in the Philippines, Maxis in Malaysia, SingTel Mobile in Singapore, Taiwan Mobile, and Telkomsel in Indonesia.

“Our partnership with the Bridge Mobile Alliance and NeuStar reflects the service’s ultimate mission-to provide a compelling, differentiated experience combining real-time access to world-class sports content,” said Jamie David, managing director of ESPN Star Sports.
