RA’ANANA, Israel-Emblaze Ltd. announced it acquired a stake in European handset distribution company Global Telecoms Distribution plc. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Emblaze, which designs mobile phones, said the move will help it gain access to the European carrier market. The company said it is working to supply handsets to the region’s wireless carriers.
“The purchase of a strategic stake in GTD is part of our mission to bring Emblaze’s advanced mobile technologies and handsets to the European consumer and is another major step in creating long-term value for our shareholders,” said Laurence Alexander, head of Emblaze’s mobile phone business.
Emblaze operates a number of business, including handset design, wireless data transcoding, wireless video technologies and IPTV offerings.
