PLAINFIELD, Ind.-Brightpoint Inc. announced a deal to distribute phones for Internet voice service provider Skype. European Consulting and Computer Business S.A. (ECCB), which manufacturers handsets for Skype, has tapped Brightpoint to distribute its Simply Phone and other handsets in the Americas. Simply Phone is a Skype-certified USB device that allows users to make Internet voice calls without a headset. Under terms of the agreement, Brightpoint eventually could distribute ECCB’s wares in other geographic markets, as well. “We are confident that our relationship will further increase the reach of Skype on the American markets, allowing more people to realize the simplicity and value of making phone calls free of charge through the Skype software,” said Lena Wittbjer of ECCB.
