UTStarcom shows off new corporate brand

ALAMEDA, Calif.-UTStarcom, Inc. announced plans to launch its new corporate brand at the PT/Wireless & Networks Communication China show in Beijing. The company says its new logo and tagline highlight its core values of innovation, flexibility and reliability.

“A World of Better Communication” is the company’s new tagline, which will follow the new logo, a sphere that represents a globe of the world. The company said that a tail on the sphere is meant to symbolize motion and energy. Developed in partnership with Dallas, Texas-based marketing agency The Richards Group, the new brand and logo is scheduled to appear on the company’s products and marketing materials by the end of the year.

UTStarcom is an IP-based network solutions and services provider for established and emerging markets with research and design operations in the United States, China, Korea and India.

“Over the last 10 years, UTStarcom has had tremendous success in Asia developing highly innovative telecommunications and networking solutions,” said Hong Lu, president and chief executive officer at UTStarcom.

“However, the company’s brand value on a worldwide basis was not very strong. With our customer base expanding and our product portfolio increasingly becoming more consumer-oriented through the development of our mobile handset, smart phone and IPTV businesses, the need for a strong brand that is recognized globally and effectively communicates our core corporate philosophy will become paramount. I believe strongly that the new global brand will generate greater awareness of UTStarcom as an innovator of reliable, leading-edge communications technologies and help ensure that our current and prospective business partners worldwide understand the breadth and depth of our telecommunications solutions capabilities.”

The company said that while its roots are in China, it purchased Long Island, N.Y.-based Audiovox Communications Corp. last year in an effort to expand its wireless and telecommunications product offerings in the United States. Audiovox was renamed UTStarcom Personal Communications.
