Gateway to sell 52 EBS leases to Pegasus

CARSON CITY, Nev.-Gateway Access Solutions Inc. said it has signed a definitive agreement to sell 52 Educational Broadband Service channel leases to Pegasus Broadband Communications L.L.C.

The leases cover 23 markets in five states. The deal is valued at $3.2 million. Gateway said it has received purchase price deposits totaling $360,000 from Pegasus, with the remaining payments to be made on a lease-by-lease basis following Federal Communications Commission approval.

“The sale of these EBS channel leases strengthens our commitment to triple-play- service deployments throughout the United States,” said Andy Nester, president of Gateway Access Solutions. “Most of the proceeds will be used to expand our current deployment efforts regarding broadband Internet, Voice over Internet and cable television services in the MTU (multi-tenant unit) and SME (small to medium enterprise) markets.”

Earlier this month, WebSky Inc. signed leases in four markets with Shekinah Network to use licensed EBS spectrum.
