SINGAPORE-Wireless carrier MobileOne Ltd. plans to launch a new short voice messaging service concept to its customers in Singapore.
BubbleTALK, which is a product of a collaboration between M1 and L.M. Ericsson, allows callers to leave a short voice message without disturbing the recipient of the message. Instead, the message recipient receives a short message service message telling him to retrieve the voice message. To use the service, customers dial * followed by the recipient phone number and press the call button. After leaving a message of up to 30 seconds, the caller’s message is sent and the recipient notified via SMS of the waiting voice message.
The company said the service is targeted at users who prefer the personal touch of a voice call, or those who dislike typing SMS messages on mobile-phone keypads.
The service will be available to both postpaid and prepaid subscribers. The calling party will be charged 10 cents per message. The recipient is not charged to retrieve the message, however, if the recipient would like to listen to messages more than once, the charge is 10 cents per access. No airtime is charged for recording or listening to messages.
