SEATTLE-Connexion by Boeing inked several announcements this week.
The company signed a deal with TeliaSonera that allows the carrier’s customers in Denmark, Norway and Sweden to access Connexion by Boeing in-flight high-speed wireless service through their TeliaSonera accounts. Customers on all Scandinavian Airline Systems long-haul flights will be able to use the service by accessing Connexion by Boeing’s home page and entering their TeliaSonera HomeRun user names and passwords, said the company.
TeliaSonera customers also can access their existing information to connect to the Internet on all Connexion-enabled flights on Lufthansa, Japan Airlines, ANA and Singapore Airlines.
The company also announced an agreement with Austrian Airlines to install its service on the airline’s long-haul fleet. The initial agreement calls for Connexion by Boeing to install its equipment on seven of Austrian Airlines’ Boeing 777 and Boeing 767 airplanes. Installations will begin early next year, and routes will be announced later, said the company.
Finally, the company announced an agreement with Teekay Shipping Corp. calling for Teekay to be the international launch customer for Connexion by Boeing’s Maritime Service.
The maritime service allows vessels in mid-ocean transit to access the same high-speed communications services Connexion by Boeing offers in-flight.
Fifty of Teekay’s vessels will be outfitted with the service, and the companies agreed to an option for an additional 40 installations.
