For-side buys iTouch for $343M

LONDON-Japanese mobile giant For-side.com will acquire U.K. content provider iTouch plc for $343 million, the companies announced Thursday.

For-side, which already owns 4.5 percent of iTouch, has agreed to pay a 27-percent premium for the remaining 95.5 percent. The Tokyo-based company plans to use the acquisition to offer its vast portfolio of images, ringtones, games, and audio and video for European third-generation users.

The move is the latest development in For-side’s global expansion. The company owns several U.S. operations, such as Vindigo and MusiKube, and has other subsidiaries in Europe, South America and Asia.
