Vindigo enters wireless gaming with ‘Shadowgate’

NEW YORK-Mobile application publisher Vindigo strolled onto the gaming playground Tuesday, announcing its intention to release a “broad selection” of adventure and casual games this year.

Infinite Ventures’ “Shadowgate,” a fantasy graphic adventure game based on the noted franchise, is the first title slated for release. Vindigo was sold last year to Japanese content provider For-side.com for $36.5 million in cash and publishes news and localized information applications.

“Vindigo’s entertainment products are already bestsellers on U.S. wireless carriers,” said Jason Devitt, president and chief executive officer of Vindigo. “We’re now taking our insight into the mobile consumer and our expertise in designing easy-to-use, compelling content for mobile phones and applying it to games-one of the most exciting categories in mobile media.”
