GUILDFORD, United Kingdom-Volantis launched its XDIME Player, a device-independent application for running data services on mobile phones.
The company said XDIME can be used by a variety of companies, including mobile operators, content providers and mobile portals. The product uses an architecture that plays mobile content that has been intelligently adapted and optimized for each device on a server, said Volantis.
“There is a huge demand for on-device portals, but with the diversity of mobile devices out there, it is very expensive-to the point of impracticality-to program and get them working on enough devices to reach a significant subscriber population,” said Mark Watson, chief technology officer at Volantis.
