NIST awards Motorola grant for micro-fuel-cell development

HOUSTON-The National Institute of Standards and Technology awarded a $3.6 million grant to Carbon Nanotechnologies Inc., Motorola Inc. and Johnson Matthey Fuel Cells Inc.

The grant calls for the companies to develop free-standing carbon nanotube electrodes for micro fuel cells to meet the demand for more power and longer run times in portable microelectronics.

The award is part of the Advanced Technology Program, which provides cost-shared funding to industry for high-risk research and development projects.
