CARROLLTON, Texas-CellStar Corp. said James Johnson will step down as chairman of the board, effective April 30, and his position will be assumed by Terry Parker, the company’s current chief executive officer.
Robert Kaiser, currently president and chief operating officer, will become CEO, although Parker will retain responsibility for the company’s Asia Pacific operations. Johnson will remain on the company’s board of directors.
“These moves will allow us to eliminate nearly a million dollars a year in corporate overhead and are part of our broader cost-reduction plan in anticipation of the Asia IPO,” said Johnson.
