Cingular rolls out personal account info services

ATLANTA-Cingular Wireless L.L.C. launched its Star Services, allowing customers to access and manage their personal account information from wireless devices by dialing the appropriate * code and having responses delivered back to their handsets via short messaging service.

Available star codes include *BAL#, which provides an update on outstanding balances; *MIN#, which provides an update on remaining calling minutes; and *PAY, which allows customers to use Cingular’s interactive voice response feature to make payments.

Cingular noted the services are free to all postpaid customers, and it plans to continue to roll out additional features throughout the year.
