Samsung lifts sales predictions

SEOUL, South Korea-Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. boosted its handset sales expectations above its previous projections of 65 million units and also said it expects a global shortage of DRAM memory chips, according to media reports.

The news comes as analysts predict a gangbuster year for mobile-phone makers, with some expectations nearing 600 million phones to be sold this year. Samsung is the world’s No. 3 provider of mobile phones, and one of the world’s largest suppliers of DRAM chips.
