Aether president to step down

OWINGS MILLS, Md.-George Davis, president and vice chairman of Aether Systems Inc., said he will leave the company to “pursue new opportunities,” a move that comes shortly after Aether’s sale of its enterprise mobility division to TeleCommunication Systems Inc. Aether said it does not intend to hire a replacement.

“George has been a trusted advisor for a long time, and I would like to thank him sincerely for his faithful service to the company,” said Dave Oros, Aether’s chairman and chief executive officer. “He has always been an inspirational leader, and I am certain that success will follow him in future endeavors.”

Davis joined Aether in 1996.

Following its exit from the wireless enterprise business, Aether now sells products for transportation companies and public-safety agencies.
