DALLAS-Marconi Corp.’s wireless business unit has entered a multi-year contract with MetroPCS Inc. to provide a solution to transition the carrier from Phase I to Phase II enhanced 911 services and compliance standards.
Under the agreement, Marconi’s E911 professional services team will provide services, including deployment, site-testing diagnostics, accuracy improvement and compliance testing, to MetroPCS cell sites. The carrier provides service in Atlanta, Miami, San Francisco and Sacramento, Calif., on an all-digital CDMA 2000 1xRTT network.
“Providing accurate and dependable E911 deployment throughout our service area is extremely important to us since it supports the health and safety requirements of our customers,” said Bob Young, executive vice president of market operations at MetroPCS.
