FORT WORTH, Texas-Mobility Electronics Inc. and RadioShack Corp. announced a global distribution agreement under which Mobility can sell RadioShack-manufactured power products to non-RadioShack outlets.
Under the agreement, Mobility will exclusively sell RadioShack-manufactured products, including cigarette lighter adapters, low-power mobile AC power adapters, inverters and Squirt, a low-power combination AC/DC power adapter. RadioShack will also carry the products in their retail stores. All products will be based on Mobility’s patented “smart tip” technology that makes a single power adapter compatible with multiple consumer electronics products, including notebook computers, wireless phones, personal digital assistants, digital cameras, CD players and MP3 devices.
“This agreement will enable RadioShack’s low-power adapters to become truly ubiquitous because of the availability through multiple sales channels,” said Leonard Roberts, chairman and chief executive officer of RadioShack. “Our multi-purpose power adapters will sell at essentially the same price point as conventional single-device adapters, and we believe they will become the preferred choice for consumers who will now only need one base adapter to power all of their electronic devices.”
