Wavecom to supply platforms for TCL handsets

HONG KONG-Wavecom SA was selected by TCL Mobile Communication to supply its Compact Phones Development Lab solution for use in several of TCL’s new handsets. The contract reinforces Wavecom’s four-year relationship as a technology supplier to TCL.

For three of its new handsets, including a slim-phone and two camera phones, TCL has chosen the quadband hardware platform WISMO Pac P5186, introduced earlier this year. In addition, TCL will use Wavecom’s latest hardware platform, the WISMO Flex, for three new high-end multimedia phones, scheduled to be launched mid-2004. The companies said all new products planned will target both the local and international markets.

TCL has also selected multiple software suites from the Compact Phones Development Lab to integrate features such as touch screens, cameras, polyphonic ring tones, WAP, multimedia messaging service and Java applications.
