Psion Teklogix releases notebook using Microsoft OS

Psion Teklogix released its new Netbook Pro portable computer, a device that uses Microsoft Corp.’s Windows CE.NET operating system.

The move is notable as Psion Teklogix is a division of Psion plc, which is a major stakeholder in operating system company Symbian. Symbian and Microsoft are the two main OS contenders in the growing market for high-end smart phones. Psion said it chose Microsoft’s operating system because “it addresses the growing popularity of this operating system within the enterprise as well as allowing seamless, reliable integration into back-office systems.”

Psion said its new Netbook Pro combines the best aspects of personal digital assistants and laptops. The device uses Intel Corp.’s XScale PXA 255 processor.
