CAMBRIDGE, U.K.-TTPCom released its multislot Class 12 EDGE reference module, capable of achieving an on-air data rate of 236.8 kbps, which triples the data rates achievable with GPRS, according to TTPCom.
“The shipping of this product represents the conclusion of over two years of technical development, and nine months of operator testing on infrastructure from all major base station manufacturers,” said Greg Matthews, EDGE product manager at TTPCom. “The product fulfills the promise of EDGE, with 236.8 kbps in both transmit and receive.”
The module, based on TTPCom’s EDGE protocol stack and physical layer, runs on Analog Device’s Blackfin SoftFone EDGE platform.
