AT&T Wireless to offer photo sharing via Fuji

VALHALLA, N.Y.-Fuji Photo Film U.S.A. Inc. and Summus Inc. announced Fujifilm’s “Get the Picture” mobile photo service application, powered by Summus’ BlueFuel, is now available through AT&T Wireless Service Inc.’s mMode service.

With the service, consumers can view, store and share photos taken with traditional digital cameras, as well as the Panasonic GU87 and Nokia 3650 camera phones, through Fujifilm.net on their handsets. To use Get the Picture, AT&T Wireless customers select the Fujifilm.net portal on their handsets and are then able to upload images from their cameras to the portal to view and share. Summus’ BlueFuel technology optimizes the pictures for the phone displays.

“Summus’ new alliance with AT&T Wireless and Fujifilm, two of the most recognized brands in the world, now fully cements Summus’ position as a leading developer of wireless photo applications,” said Bjorn Jawerth, chief executive officer of Summus. “Our wireless imaging applications, powered by our BlueFuel platform, allow wireless carriers such as AT&T Wireless to deliver robust and user-friendly photo applications to their subscribers.”

Fujifilm and Summus plan to make the service available on all major wireless platforms, including Qualcomm’s BREW, WAP, J2ME and the Symbian operating system.
