WASHINGTON-The Department of Homeland Security today confirmed it will establish a cybersecurity position within the Information Analysis and Infrastructure Protection unit, but that is not expected to silence high-tech critics.
“Our job is to implement the [cyber security] strategy,” said David Wray, a DHS spokesman.
The high-tech sector has been pressing for a high-level cybersecurity official in DHS, following the resignations of White House cyber experts Richard Clarke and Howard Schmidt.
Wray said the announcement will be made in the next week or so, even if the individual to fill the slot has not been identified by then.
