Nokia to cut 550 jobs in infrastructure division

HELSINKI, Finland-Nokia Corp. said it will slash 550 jobs in its infrastructure division as part of its efforts to reduce costs in its research and development areas. The cut represents three percent of the division’s work force.

“The aim is to increase efficiency and operational synergies as well as to reduce costs,” Nokia said in a press release. The company indicated that some of the cut staff may be redeployed to other divisions.
