Spirent teams with TestQuest on CDMA application testing

SAN DIEGO-Spirent Communications has teamed with Minneapolis-based TestQuest to provide completely automated testing for applications embedded into most commercially available CDMA handsets.

“Right now, applications testing is very labor intensive, spending 50 man hours to test an application that is a small part of an overall business plan,” said Nigel Wright, director of strategic marketing for Spirent’s wireless business unit.
“Automating the process has been a huge problem, but we have developed a standard tool, a device driver, to evaluate all phones, instead of a proprietary method for each phone.”

Future iterations of the automated process will allow for the testing of downloadable applications, he said.
