Malaysian carriers agree to merge

KUALA LAMPUR, Malaysia-Malaysia’ second largest wireless operator Celcom Bhd. signed an agreement to merge with state-run telecommunications operator Telekom Malaysia Bhd’s TM Cellular Sdn. Bhd. wireless division, according to the Associated Press.

The deal calls for Celcom to buy the entire equity interest of TM Cellular for $442 million in stock, leaving Telekom Malaysia with a 47.9-percent interest in Celcom.
